Ashes to Ashes Practical and Analysis

Gene Hunt, the police of in Ashes to Ashes is portrayed as the character with the most authority, this is done by various shots that are not taken with the other characters. An example of this is when he steps out of his red Audi, there is a shot of his feet stepping out in slow motion, as this is not done for the other characters the audience already know that he is the main character. The one shot that shows that Gene Hunt hold the power is the shot that is taken through Alex Drake's legs, previously Drake is seen as a respects police officer however now she has been reduced to a "damsel in distress".

In order to change the first impressions of Hunt there could be a fair share of camera shots between all the characters. To make him look less sour and more of a hero there could be a change in his style, in the extract Hunt is wearing a long jacket. To make him look better he could wear a shirt and tie as it does look like it is hot outside.
